This winter, WinterCon invites artists to step into the world of myths and legends - and bring its creatures back to life. From the spirits and gods of old tales to beings born from your own imagination, this is your chance to create something that feels real enough to believe in.

It’s a story older than time - told through your art. Let your work capture the space between belief and fantasy, where every line and color becomes part of a legend only you could create.

Before you dive into the details, here’s a quick look at the essentials to get you started.

Submit your work by January 8, 2026.

Rules and Guidelines

1. Theme:

Create an artwork inspired by mythology, folklore, or your original legend. You may include a short description or the creature’s name.

2. Medium:

Traditional only: painting, drawing, ink, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, etc.

Digital art is accepted only if printed on paper or canvas.

No additional materials, 3D objects, or attached decorations - your piece must remain flat and self-contained.

3. Size Limit:

Maximum A3 format (297 × 420 mm).

4. Original Work:

Your artwork must be your own creation, made specifically for this challenge.

5. Entries:

One artwork per participant.

6. Presentation:

Keep it neat and clear - no frames, watermarks, or embellishments.

7. Submission Deadlines:

Submit by January 8, 2026.

Physical works must be brought to Aleksandra Čaka iela 58, Latgales priekšpilsēta, Rīga, LV-1011 before January 9.

International artists can present printed works at the convention on January 10.

Judging & awards

Judging Criteria

Your artwork will be scored on 5 key elements:

Creativity - How unique and imaginative is your concept?

Theme Fit - Does it reflect the spirit of myths and legends?

Visual Impact - Technique, color use, and overall composition.

Storytelling - Does it capture emotion or a sense of mystery?

Overall Impression - The feeling your artwork leaves behind.
